Celebrating Jewelry and International Women’s Day #IWD2022

This International Women’s Day, as we work to #BreakTheBias and build a world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive, I’d like to elevate the visibility of creative and influential women in the world of fashion and jewelry.

The Rachel Balkovec Empowerment Collection – Borsheims

Today Borsheims launched The Rachel Balkovec Collection, a line of engraved necklaces designed by the first female manager in affiliated professional baseball. Described as “wildly passionate about women fighting for their seat at the table,” Rachel uses words connected to her journey to becoming who she is today. A portion of every necklace sold is being donated to Omaha’s Women’s Center for Advancement.

On February 28 JCK’s Karen Dybis provided information on industry events empowering women around the USA and the world. Yahoo! for Bold, Joyful Jewelry Designs – Yahoo

Yahoo is sharing a slideshow of 11 bright and brilliant jewelry pieces, all designed by women. In addition to celebrating female designers, the piece highlights the empowerment of self-gifting.

In decades past, jewelry has been wrongly thought of as something that should be gifted to a woman , and while being gifted a piece of jewelry is wonderful as well, having the power to gift yourself is, in some ways, even more meaningful.

A Diversity Of Jewelers From Around The Globe – Forbes, 2021

This post was actually inspired by a collection published last year. Beth Bernstein’s photos and descriptions of 23 pieces by women jewelry designers around the globe, seen in Forbes, remains as powerful to me today as it was a year ago.
